The Trial and Aftermath
There was not a trial for this baseball scandal of the White Sox throwing the world Series until 1920 when the White Sox where close again to going to another world series. In the trial Joe Jackson himself confessed to the fact that he threw the game. Despite Joe Jackson's batting a .375 which was a series leading, he said that he let up at times. Even though Joe Jackson and other teammates confessed to the game being fixed they were acquitted of the charges in court and were found innocent. All eight players were later banned from the league for life.
Kenesaw Mountain Landis
The league now decided that to have more power over the league they needed to have one supreme head of it. Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis was elected the first commissioner. He was a famous Judge because he would always have these big laws he tried to get passed but would always get turned down. He ended up loving his job as Commissioner because no one could turn him down, the only person he answered to was himself.
